Even If Your Wife, Church, or Mother Approves
In the Beginning It Was Not So!

Flower Mound, TX (ChristianPRgroup) - Wives who approve of their pastoral husbands having a night out, and mothers who encourage their married sons to be a little-less than faithful continues to devastate God’s people. According to Dr. Steven B. DavidSon these are cultural realities, and spiritual mind-fields that continue to plague God’s people.

DavidSon’s experience reveals what seems to be impossible. “I am not sure if we’ll ever be able to overcome the combination of Biblical ignorance and defiance, and sheer hypocrisy. Here’s a simple question. Which of the two sins do you hear about more predominantly locally and nationally, adultery or homosexuality? I believe it is homosexuality. However, homosexuality is not as expansive within local church ministries as adultery. So, why don’t we stay on point with adultery as an issue?”

DavidSon discusses why he stays on the topic. “We must continue the effort to expose error within the Church, particularly error that devastates the Church’s primary commission. There are persons in ministry who will teach or imply as mentors that there is nothing wrong with concubines, particularly if a wife approves. More than thirty years ago I witnessed a profound preacher teach that wives could approve of their husbands extramarital relationship. He used I Cor. 7:4-5 as the basis for his assertion. Today, the same distorted manipulation continues.”

What DavidSon calls pathetic is when mothers, friends, or relatives encourage sinful behavior because of their desire to provide acceptable counsel for their married sons or relatives. “I wish these occasions where exceptions, but they happen far too often.” DavidSon identifies the hierarchy of problems.

“This issue is simply a symptom of a larger problem. First, we have people in our churches who clearly do not know Jesus. Jesus is the one who told the parable of the four types of hearers ( Matthew 13:3-8). His point, ‘all of you are following Me, but only a few of you get it!’ Secondarily, assess the typical ministry’s development of God’s people. Is it systemic to ensure that all principles are covered cyclically? Are people provided opportunity to discuss the issues they face? Are programs evaluated to determine their effectiveness? Are there minimal accountability standards to ensure that members are learning principles of our faith, and real-life scenarios? Finally, the issue of leadership preparation and ethical standards is paramount. Those of us in ministry must set high standards in preparation and conduct for those we lead and impress.”

Concerning sexuality, DavidSon shares that the issue of sexuality is one of the major concerns Jesus addressed. “Jesus challenged the disciples concerning sexual abstinence. He did this by word and deed. Jesus is clear that humanity was designed for persons to have only one sexual mate. And His follow-up to the explanation concerning only having one mate is an unwavering mandate. He called for believers to marry one mate or function as eunuchs for the Kingdom of Heavens sake (Matthew 19:8-12). Again, this is undeniable. So, anyone with a view that it is acceptable to have more than one mate holds an antichrist position.”

DavidSon’s Christ-based counseling and educational ministry is presenting a series of video sessions on Jesus and Sexuality. DavidSon discusses excerpts from his book, Christ-based Sexual Counseling. He leaves no stone unturned for married couples, singles, the sex-addicted, and homosexually challenged. It is a Christ-based masterpiece. “I see that Ed Young Jr. has also launched an initiative with his married couples including a week of sex. It sounds ridiculous, but the initiative underscores the ministry aspect of sex in the marriage bed. God created sexuality. If we fear the topic, we open-the-door to Satanic exploitation.”
